Challenges are easier to overcome when we stand together, which is why the regional competitive selection Best Pitch was dedicated to projects already in production, in order to provide support for a successful completion. The selection focused on feature-length films by emerging directors from the region.
The following films were shortlisted:
“Levant” by Una Radić,
“15 and a Half” by Mišo Obradović,
“Nothing Will Be Named After Me” by Miljan Vučelić,
“Bike Ride with Zoli Turčin” by Sabolč Tolnai,
“Fruit” by Maša Šarović,
“The Sun, Never Again” by David Jovanović,
“Wind, Speak to Me” by Stefan Đorđević,
and “78 Days” by Emilija Gašić.
The winner of this year’s Best Pitch selection is the Montenegrin film project “Nothing Will Be Named After Me”, directed by Đorđe Vojvodić.
This year’s partner of the Best Pitch selection is Schweppes.
Nagradu dodeljujemo filmu „Zvečarke“ reditelja Nikole Ljuce.
The "Work in Progress" selection is dedicated to projects currently in production or post-production, aiming to provide support for their successful completion. The largest cash prize of the Novi Sad Film Festival — €10,000, sponsored by Schweppes — is awarded this year to the film Rattlesnakes, directed by Nikola Ljuca.
The jury was presided over by Mahnwoo Kwon, director of the Busan Content Market, alongside Ena Rahelić and Milan Todorović. Their statement reads:
The story follows the journey of two individuals transitioning from intimacy to alienation, ultimately meeting on opposing sides where work, politics, and morality collide. The relevance of the narrative — both in social context and the themes it tackles — is presented through a well-structured and professional pitch, further enhanced by the fact that this is a powerful regional co-production involving all former Yugoslav countries, enriched with a Mediterranean touch.
After years of financial struggle, the film was finally shot this summer. We believe this intergenerational story will benefit the most from the award, with strong potential for both a successful festival run and theatrical release, especially in the region.
The award goes to 'Rattlesnakes', directed by Nikola Ljuca.
