Nakon što je diplomirao filmske studije na Univerzitetu u Torontu, Andrei Tănăsescu postao je suosnivač Rumunskog filmskog festivala u Torontu. Magistrirao je na Univerzitetu Saint Andrews u Škotskoj sa magistarskom tezom o Delezu i rumunskoj kinematografiji. Njegova strast prema muzici i filmu dovela je do niza projekata koji se bave posebnošću svakog oblika i njihovim potencijalom za istorijsko preispitivanje.
Između 2010. i 2019. bio je deo selekcijskog tima Međunarodnog filmskog festivala u Torontu, a sarađivao je sa Međunarodnim filmskim festivalom u Berlinu, Međunarodnim festivalomu eksperimentalnog filma u Bukureštu, Festivalom američkog nezavisnog filma u Bukureštu i Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest.
Trenutno je član selekcionog odbora Venice Days / Giornate degli Autori, selektor Međunarodnog filmskog festivala Kino Pavasaris u Internacionalnog filmskog festivala u Vilnjusu i Bildrausch Film Festivala u Bazelu.

After graduating in Film Studies from the University of Toronto, Andrei Tănăsescu co-founded the Romanian Film Festival in Toronto. He holds an MA from the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where he focused his thesis on Deleuze and Romanian cinema. His passion for music and film has led to a number of projects exploring the uniqueness of each medium and their potential for historical reinterpretation.
Between 2010 and 2019, he was part of the selection team at the Toronto International Film Festival, and has collaborated with the Berlin International Film Festival, Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival, American Independent Film Festival in Bucharest, and Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest.
He is currently a member of the selection committee at Venice Days / Giornate degli Autori, and a programmer at the Vilnius International Film Festival – Kino Pavasaris and Bildrausch Film Festival in Basel.
