A good way to understand a coral reef and how it functions is to view it as a large city — a commune where the buildings are made of coral, and where thousands of inhabitants circulate and struggle for survival every day.

The Underwater Metropolis series was filmed over the course of five years at the most attractive diving locations in the Red Sea. During the production, over 2,000 hours of diving were completed, resulting in an archive of several hundred hours of breathtaking footage documenting changes in the coral reef and natural phenomena that were previously unknown to science.

The pilot episode, Life in Harmony, had a successful festival run. The film was well received at festivals in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Malaysia, and won second place in the ecological documentary category at the Srem Film Fest in Vrdnik.

The narrator is English actor Roger Worrod.
