Biography

Tanja Miličić je direktorka Pulskog filmskog festivala i predsednica žirija takmičarske selekcije internacionalnog dugometražnog filma.

Rođena je 14. decembra 1974. godine u Puli, gde je završila osnovnu školu i gimnaziju, smer kultura i umetnost. Godine 1993. otišla je u Veliku Britaniju, gde je 1998. diplomirala na Višu školu za film, video i fotografiju na Lambeth koledžu u Londonu, a 2002. diplomirala film, fotografiju i vizuelne medije na Univerzitetu Napier u Edinburgu.

Tokom studija je volontirala i radila u nizu nevladinih organizacija, stičući dragoceno životno i organizaciono iskustvo. Takođe je i radila na brojnim kratkim igranim i dokumentarnim filmovima, a njen srednjometražni diplomski film Patchwork (2003) gostovao je na mnogim evropskim festivalima i na 12. Danima hrvatskog filma osvojio nagradu za najbolju režiju, najboljeg debitanta i nagradu Oktavijan Hrvatskog društva filmskih kritičara za najbolji dokumentarni film.

Godine 2003. vraća se u Pulu i nekoliko godina paralelno radi na Pulskom filmskom festivalu i Sajmu knjiga u Istri, gde obavlja razne funkcije. Od 2007. godine stalno je zaposlena u JU Pula Film Festival kao producentkinja Pula Film Festivala, a od 2008. do 2021. kao voditeljka Kina Valli.

Od 2014. do 2017. godine bila je članica tročlanog Umjetničkog vijeća Pulskog filmskog festivala, a od 2021. godine producentkinja svih programa Ustanove. Bila je članica žirija ispred međunarodnih organizacija CICAE (Međunarodna federacija umetničkih bioskopa), Europa Cinemas (Evropski bioskopi) i ECFA (Evropska federacija filmova za decu) na festivalima u Veneciji, Berlinu, Sarajevu, Vilnjusu, Kristijansandu itd.

Godine 2009. godine, pod rukovodstvom Međunarodne federacije art bioskopa, na Venecijanskom filmskom festivalu završila je obuku za reditelja umetničkih bioskopa. Od 2014. do 2016. bila je članica upravnog odbora Evropske federacije filmova za decu. Učestvovala je kao polaznica i predavačica na brojnim konferencijama i radionicama na festivalima širom Evrope.

Bila je dugogodišnja članica Kulturnog veća za filmsku, scensku i dramsku umetnost Grada Pule i Kulturnog veća za muzičku, muzičko-scensku i filmsku delatnost Istarske županije. Učestvovala je u izradi kulturnih strategija za grad Pulu i Istarsku županiju.

Tanja Miličić is the director of the Pula Film Festival and the president of the jury for the international feature film competition selection.

She was born on December 14, 1974, in Pula, where she completed elementary school and high school, specializing in culture and arts. In 1993, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she graduated in 1998 from the Higher School of Film, Video, and Photography at Lambeth College in London. In 2002, she earned a degree in Film, Photography, and Visual Media from Napier University in Edinburgh.

During her studies, she volunteered and worked with numerous non-governmental organizations, gaining valuable life and organizational experience. She also worked on several short fiction and documentary films. Her medium-length graduation film Patchwork (2003) was screened at many European festivals and won Best Direction, Best Debut, and the Oktavijan Award from the Croatian Society of Film Critics for Best Documentary Film at the 12th Croatian Film Days.

In 2003, she returned to Pula and for several years worked simultaneously at the Pula Film Festival and the Book Fair in Istria, taking on various roles. Since 2007, she has been permanently employed by the Pula Film Festival Public Institution, initially as producer of the Pula Film Festival, and from 2008 to 2021, as director of Kino Valli.

From 2014 to 2017, she was a member of the three-person Artistic Council of the Pula Film Festival, and since 2021, she has been the producer of all the institution’s programs. She has served as a jury member representing international organizations such as CICAE (International Confederation of Art Cinemas), Europa Cinemas, and ECFA (European Children’s Film Association) at festivals in Venice, Berlin, Sarajevo, Vilnius, Kristiansand, and others.

In 2009, she completed the art cinema director training under the leadership of the International Confederation of Art Cinemas at the Venice Film Festival. From 2014 to 2016, she was a board member of the European Children’s Film Association. She has participated both as attendee and lecturer at numerous conferences and workshops across European festivals.

She was a long-time member of the Cultural Council for Film, Stage, and Performing Arts of the City of Pula and the Cultural Council for Music, Music-Stage, and Film Activities of the Istria County. She was also involved in developing cultural strategies for both the City of Pula and Istria County.
