Head of Busan Content Market Coming to Novi Sad Film Festival

Sep 20, 2023

Profesor južnokorejskog Univerziteta Kiungsung i predstavnik čuvenog Busan Content Marketa, Mahnwoo Kwon, održaće predavanje u okviru Novi Sad film festivala u subotu, 23. septembra, u Kulturnom centru Novog Sada sa početkom u 16 časova.

Professor at South Korea’s Kyungsung University and representative of the renowned Busan Content Market (BCM), Mahnwoo Kwon, will give a lecture as part of the Novi Sad Film Festival on Saturday, September 23, at the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad.

Busan Content Market (BCM) is one of the largest international platforms dedicated to the promotion and exchange of film, television, and related content. It fosters global cooperation among professionals from the film, TV, and broader entertainment industries. As the leader of this global initiative—which gathers nearly 2,000 buyers from over 50 countries every year—Mahnwoo Kwon will share valuable insights and experiences with audiences and film professionals at the Novi Sad Film Festival.

From 2014 to 2018, Kwon served as an advisor to South Korea’s first international film festival, the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), one of Asia’s most prominent cinematic events held annually in Busan since 1996. Since 2021, he has been at the helm of BCM, a unique content marketplace that facilitates transactions worth over 100 million dollars annually, covering film, animation, video games, and other creative tech-based products. In addition to significantly promoting Korea’s creative industries, BCM plays a vital role in Busan’s cultural and economic landscape, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the Mayor of Busan serving as the Chair of the Organizing Committee. Thanks to BCM, Busan has become a global leader in the promotion and application of new media.

Mahnwoo Kwon’s visit is part of the INDUSTRY program of the Novi Sad Film Festival, which features lectures and panel discussions aimed at introducing both professionals and the wider public to innovations brought by new media and technology to the world of cinema. This year’s INDUSTRY section will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and expertise in the fields of animation and gaming—two dynamic forces that are reshaping traditional film forms and challenging the boundaries between technology and art.
