In order to raise the capacity of the local film industry and spread awareness among domestic and foreign audiences about its importance in Novi Sad, the Novi Sad Film Festival continues with a series of activities that realize this vision. After the NSFF Winter Cinema, which took place in the Cultural Center of Novi Sad in February, a conference was organized in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina on March 27th. There, current events in the film industry were discussed, as well as its current position and projections for future development in Novi Sad and Vojvodina.
In this way, a collaboration was started between the Novi Sad Film Festival, which had its first edition last September and was well received by the public, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina, whose representatives were approached with the idea of the festival itself as well as its importance for the development of film and local film workers on an international level.
On this occasion, the director of the festival, Vanja Hovan, spoke about the initial idea for starting such a large project as well as all the challenges that accompany its realization. The ultimate goal of the project is to increase Novi Sad's visibility on the global film scene and to inspire young people to forge their own paths in the film industry.
A significant part of the program of the Novi Sad film festival is dedicated to the technological innovations and changes that have been brought to film art and industry. In this regard, Mileta Poštić, as one of the representatives of the famous ILBE animation studio, discussed how animations and visual effects are today the most advanced aspects of the film industry, drastically altering the conventional perception of movies.
Mahnwoo Kwon, a representative of the Busan Content Market, gave an online presentation and provided a slightly different perspective on the film industry in Korea, presenting its practice, importance, and differences compared to those in Europe, while Branislav Mamić, secretary of the CCIV Services Association, talked about the role of the film industry from the point of view of the economies of Vojvodina and Novi Sad.
With the aim of more successfully recognizing the needs of the film industry in Novi Sad and Vojvodina and encouraging the development of film, which has had a long and rich history in Novi Sad from the perspective of the entire economic tradition, the conference opened the way for cooperation and joint activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina and the Novi Sad Film Festival.
