Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler from the Indian state of Haryana, dreams of winning a gold medal for his country but is unable to fulfill his own ambition. When he discovers that his two daughters, Geeta and Babita, have exceptional strength and athletic potential, he begins training them in wrestling, challenging traditional expectations about what girls can and should do.

The film follows their journey from rigorous training and local competitions to international success, while also exploring the complex relationship between a demanding father and his daughters.
