Kroz vešto režirane glumce, snažan vizuelni identitet i izvanredne performanse, film nas potpuno uvlači u svoj svet, čineći da nam likovi i njihove borbe deluju intimno, stvarno i duboko prepoznatljivo. New money - Glavna nagrada Za samouverenu kombinaciju humora, društvene opservacije i ljudskosti, pretvarajući priču o iznenadnom bogatstvu u prodornu refleksiju o odnosima, identitetu i o tome ko smo zapravo.

To stvara neočekivanu i prilično šarmantnu povezanost.“

Nagrada koju Novi Sad Film festival dodeljuje uz podršku Schweppes-a, u internacionalnoj selekciji Work in progress pripala je projektu Zemlja živih, producentske kuće Aljaska film.

U internacionalnoj studentskoj selekciji, prema online glasanju, nagrada za najbolji film pripala je ostvarenju As if I’m not there rediteljke Milice Vujasin.

The fourth edition of the Novi Sad Film Festival came to a close on Sunday, September 13, with the presentation of the festival award to this year’s laureate for his contribution to international cinema, director and animator Kyle Balda. The award ceremony was followed by the theatre production CONTRA MUNDUM by the Cultural Centre of Tivat.

The national laureate for his contribution to international cinema is director, screenwriter and writer Boro Drašković, while Sylvain Chomet is the laureate for his contribution to international animation.

This year’s Main Competition featured eight films selected by programmer Nikola Spasić. According to the jury, headed by Jaime Cristian Noguera Martin, the Best Film Award was shared by the Serbian film YugoFlorida, produced by Sense Production and directed by Vladimir Tagić, and New Money, produced by Tallifornia and directed by Estonian filmmaker Rain Rannu.

The Best Director Award went to Feels Like Home, directed by Hungarian filmmaker Gábor Holtai, while a Special Mention was awarded to Ponderosa, directed by American filmmaker Robert Rice.

The jury gave the following statements:

YugoFlorida – Main Award
For an authentic story about the struggle with reality, divisions within a family and coming to terms with death. For a film that reminds us of themes we have stopped making films about, even though they have never stopped being part of our lives. Through skilfully directed performances, a strong visual identity and outstanding acting, the film draws us completely into its world, making its characters and their struggles feel intimate, real and deeply recognizable.

New Money – Main Award
For a confident combination of humour, social observation and humanity, turning a story about sudden wealth into a sharp reflection on relationships, identity and who we really are.

Ponderosa – Special Mention
For its authentic artistic style and the world created by its director. This award is intended to encourage him to continue along the path he has chosen and further develop his unique artistic voice.

Feels Like Home – Best Director
For precise direction that reveals the hidden sides of human nature; for the confidence with which he navigates the edges of the world he has created, finding cinematic means within it to frighten us while also making us laugh; and for developing a distinctive cinematic language of his own — the quality that defines the greatest filmmakers.

As every year, audiences also had the opportunity to vote for their favourite films. A new feature this year was that all 15 feature-length films competed for the Audience Award. The award went to Obraz, directed by Nikola Vukčević.

In the international Game Cinematics Competition, the jury, chaired by Aleksandra Bobić, selected Tomb Raider: Catalyst – Teaser Trailer as the winner.

In the international short animation competition, the jury, chaired by Jin Sheng, awarded the prize to David Ferrié’s Beyond Measure, with the following statement:

“Told with great care and restraint, this film first draws you in with its visual style — hand-drawn, with a gentle, warm aesthetic that feels personal and unobtrusive. The direction is exceptionally controlled; the pacing and rhythm give each scene room to breathe, moving effortlessly from quiet humour to everyday intimacy. Just when you think you know where the story is going, the final scene delivers a powerful emotional impact. Interestingly, the film’s central premise — a man who is shrunk — is particularly reminiscent of this year’s opening film, The Shrinking Man. This creates an unexpected and rather charming connection.”

The Novi Sad Film Festival award in the international Work in Progress selection, presented with the support of Schweppes, went to the project Zemlja živih, produced by Alaska Film.

In the international student competition, the award for Best Film, based on online voting, went to As if I’m Not There, directed by Milica Vujasin.

In the national high school competition, the Novi Sad Film Festival presented awards with the support of Neoplanta and Converse. The Best Film Award, based on online voting, went to Ja imam ideju, created by students of class II-7 at Laza Kostić Grammar School in Novi Sad.

The high school competition also featured an award for Best Director, which went to 23, directed by Lena Vidić, as well as a Special Mention for Balerina, directed by Isidora Milošević.

In the international children’s film competition, the Best Film Award, selected by a jury of five children from Novi Sad primary schools, went to Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

This year’s festival, organized by the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad with the support of the City of Novi Sad, was also supported by Coca-Cola with its Schweppes brand, Neoplanta, Converse, Hotel Pupin, the Embassy of India and the French Institute.
