From February 8 to 11, the Novi Sad Cultural Center will host four films by local and international filmmakers as part of the winter edition of the Novi Sad Film Festival. Documentaries and feature films that have grabbed the attention of the public are waiting for us from Thursday through Sunday at 9 p.m.: Mamula All Inclusive, Telenovela sivo u koloru, Gru tu je, and El Santo. Following every screening, there will be a Q&A session moderated by Nikola Davić, playwright, screenwriter, and co-author of the theatrical adaptation of the popular comic strip Cat Claw.
Winter Cinema presents Mamula All Inclusive, a film directed by Novi Sad filmmaker and journalist Aleksandar Reljić. It made its debut at the Sarajevo Film Festival the previous year. The story of the infamous 19th-century fortress and camp of Mamula in the Bay of Kotor, which Reljić worked on for seven years, was followed with great attention from the audience. Today, designed as a luxury hotel resort, Mamula represents wealth more powerful than the victims of fascist torture, with the final memorial service for the victims taking place shortly before investors arrived on the island of Lastavica. On Friday, February 9, we will have the opportunity to watch Filip Martinović's genre-hybrid Telenovela sivo u koloru, which follows the unusual journey of Filip and the Ethiopian Asha in search of answers to existential questions and their identity. The director's friendship with Asha, whose destiny is even more tangled than his own, gave rise to this film, which features real-life stories and characters.
Another documentary, this one about Dalibor Andonov Gru, a pioneer of the rap scene in the former Yugoslavia, will be screened on the last night of the NSFF Winter Cinema. The film Gru tu je, which was co-directed by Rene Miškolci and Bojan Vinulović, tells the story of a particular social context that gave rise to one of the most genuine phenomena of the domestic rap scene that has influenced generations. Nearly fifty of Gru's friends and acquaintances spent over ten hours discussing with the directors his versatility and multitalented nature. Gru was also associated with a certain musical era. El Santo, winner of the audience award at last year's Novi Sad's Film Festival, will be the penultimate film shown at Winter Cinema. Award-winning Argentinian director Augustin Carbonere's debut feature tells the story of a mysterious healer who cultivates terrifying healing methods. Carbonere won several prestigious awards for this work, and those who missed the most notable film of last year's festival have the opportunity to watch it on February 11.
After the first edition of the Novi Sad Film Festival in September last year, which attracted a lot of attention from the audience and numerous film workers and IT experts connected with the film industry, with special guest John Savage, the festival continues with activities aimed at developing and stimulating the film audience, as part of their main missions.
Tickets are available at the box office of the Cultural Center of Novi Sad.
