Biography

Olivera Katarina je laureatkinja za doprinos domaćoj kinematografiji.

Jedna je od najvećih srpskih glumica i pevačica, te jedna od najvećih diva na našim prostorima 60-ih i 70-ih godina. Nakon završenog Pravnog fakulteta u Beogradu, odlazi u Pariz i po povratku upisuje pozorišnu akademiju u svom rodnom gradu, u klasi sa Petrom Kraljem, Milenom Dravić i drugim velikanima domaćeg glumišta. Godine 1962. dobija stalni angažman u Narodnom pozorištu u predstavi Koštana. Sa filmom Vojnik odlazi i na Kanski festival 1966. godine.

Radio-televizija Italije (RAI) proglasio ju je najlepšim glasom Mediterana, o njoj su pisali Njujork Tajms, ali i drugi svetski mediji. Sa kompozitorom najpoznatijih pesama Edit Pjaf, Šarlom Dimonom, otpevala je pesmu koju joj je slavni muzičar posvetio. Održala je više od 100 koncerata širom sveta, a veliku popularnost stekla je i u Japanu.

U francuskoj Olimpiji održala je 72 uzastopna koncerta. Najpoznatiju ulogu ostvarila je u Skupljačima perja (1967) nagrađenom na Kanskom festivalu. Za film Goja, nagrađena je na festivalima u Moskvi i Veneciji. Godine 2017. povodom pedesetogodišnjice filma Skupljači perja posetila je Kanski festival i nastupila s pesmom Đelem, đelem. Iste godina dobija najveće priznanje Jugoslovenske kinoteke Zlatni pečat, a 2020. i Nušićevu nagradu za životno delo.

Olivera Katarina is a laureate honored for her contribution to national cinematography.

She is one of the greatest Serbian actresses and singers, and one of the biggest divas of the 1960s and 1970s in the region. After graduating from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, she moved to Paris and upon returning enrolled in the Academy of Theatre Arts in her hometown, studying alongside Petar Kralj, Milena Dravić, and other giants of Serbian theatre. In 1962, she received a permanent engagement at the National Theatre in the play Koštana. In 1966, she went to the Cannes Film Festival with the film Vojnik.

Italy’s Radio Televisione Italiana (RAI) declared her the most beautiful voice of the Mediterranean. She has been featured in The New York Times and other international media. With Charles Dumont, composer of Édith Piaf’s most famous songs, she performed a song dedicated to her by the legendary musician. She has held over 100 concerts worldwide and gained great popularity in Japan.

At the Olympia in Paris, she performed 72 consecutive concerts. Her most famous role was in The Feather Gatherers (Skupljači perja, 1967), awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. For the film Goya, she received awards at festivals in Moscow and Venice. In 2017, marking the 50th anniversary of The Feather Gatherers, she returned to Cannes and performed the song Đelem, đelem. That same year, she received the highest honor from the Yugoslav Film Archive, the Golden Seal, and in 2020 she was awarded the Nušić Prize for lifetime achievement.
