In addition to big names from the world of cinematography, the second edition of the festival, which is scheduled from September 18 to 22, will once again activate the famous open-air summer cinema, Open Air, in the courtyard of the Cultural Center of Novi Sad, and the sale of tickets for film screenings has also begun.
This year's laureate for contribution to international cinema is also the famous Hungarian director, Istvan Szabo, whose film Mephisto won the Oscar for the best foreign film. Sabo thus joins another Oscar winner, the already announced Zoran Perišić, who will be the laureate for contribution to the international development of animation and visual effects, an award that was introduced for the first time this year at the festival.
In addition to the main competitive international selection, which has already announced up to seven premieres from four continents this year, the Novi Sad Film Festival also brings sound titles from domestic cinematography in review selections.
The A Sad Novi selection will include the film Nedelja , directed by Nemanja Ćeranić and Miloš Radunović, which has already won an audience award, about the life of one of the most beloved singers in this region, Džej Ramadanovski . This selection brings another film that also won over the audience at the first viewing and is described as one of the most authentic expressions of domestic cinema in the last few decades. In question is the production Za danas toliko , by Marko Đorđević, which tells a story about ordinary people. In this selection, the audience is also waiting for Korak , directed by Igor Pavlović, an animated, speculative fictional film that depicts the inner struggle of a young man through his attempts to authentically understand the world he finds himself in, but to which he does not belong.
In the Eco Film selection this year, unusual achievements are expected - from the story of a city with a dual identity between occultism and industry, Flotation , directed by Eluned Zoi Aiano and Aleksandra Tatić, to films that take us to the depths of the sea and river courses, among them Underwater Metropolis , by Dragan Milutinović, created during five years and more than 2000 hours spent in the depths of the Red Sea, then Luma , which represents a journey through the Valbona valley and shows the perceptions, feelings and relationships of the people who live around it, The Story of Danube Salmon , directed by Jovana Milanko, which reveals the magical underwater world of the rivers Drina and Vrelo, and from the same author comes the short film Diamonds od the Depths , which in 9 minutes talks about a giant diamond squid, never filmed live before.
The organizers have revealed two more competitive selections: the competitive selection of a high school film, whose selector is a graduated actress and audio-visual artist, Sonja Leštar, and the competitive selection of a student film, whose selector is Milan V. Puzić, film and television screenwriter and playwright. The festival also includes a documentary selection, as well as the previously mentioned Game Cinematics, which connects gaming and film.
